Living & Working in Big White

For so many people living at a ski resort for the winter is a dream. Actually taking the time to plan and invest in participating is a must, just speak to any previous seasonaire! To spend a season at Big White is close to spectacular! Describing Big White in brief, lets say 3 words is a challenge, but lets go with Ridiculous, Awesome and Dry or in short RAD!

Big White is such a ridiculously good resort because it ticks all the boxes. From it's stella terrain, down to the friendly vibe of the main village, it's such a joy to be part of everyday day life at Big White. No matter who you are, when you head out to do a season the first thing you think about are the powder days ahead of you and at Biggie they can come thick and fast! "It's the snow" is their motto and they live up to the name with an average 24.5ft of Okanagan Champagne Powder falling annually. It's powder snow like you have never experienced. It's super dry, which means effortless float. We challenge you not ski or board without a smile on your face!

Living in Big White

Big white also has an ace up it's sleeve when it comes to accommodation, it's slope side! When you are actually immersing yourself and living at a resort your accommodation is a huge factor not to be over looked. Almost its entire resort is ski-in, ski-out, which is a rarity in North America. A luxury that you quickly get used to. You can't beat walking out your front door, clipping in to your gear and just heading straight to a lift shouting freshies to your buddies. It also makes for an interesting ride home if you, like most of Big White enjoy a spot of après after a full day of shredding. The apr├Ęs Biggie delivers is nothing short of exceptional. Although you are limited to only about a dozen venues, it's super relaxed and packs a laugh or two. Enjoy plenty of live music, DJ's, themed parties, play some pool or compete in the chicken wing eating competition every Wednesday in Snowshoe Sam's.

When I first arrived at Big White many years ago, I personally fell in love with the feeling that filled the air here. From the mountain itself, in particular the tree skiing, to the people that bring it to life, there's an energy that is just awesome! For anyone thinking about living at Big White, whether you are planning on just skiing or boarding for the season, working in the resort or taking part in a ski or snowboard course you can rest assured this resort will be like home from home, just a lot more fun and quite a bit more snowy.

Staying longer than a season

It actually turned out to be such a jack of all trades resort myself and my business partner decided to make it our base for our ski and snowboard instructor training company, NothinButSnow. After slogging it away researching various resorts around the world, Big White gave us more than just a high 5 when we turned up and it was evident that we must bring people to Big White to participate in a ski instructor course or snowboard instructor course.

So if Canada is on the cards as a potential place to get a ski job, make sure Big White is at the top of your list. We hope you enjoy this resort as much as we do and be warned, after that first visit you will be coming back!
